ADHD teens and children are often subjected to painful situations in school as teachers and classmates fail to comprehend their struggle to cope simultaneously with themselves and their environment. An ADHD child will often "dig in his heels" in apparent defiance of a teacher or an adult. What is not understood is that the appearance of defiance is motivated more by confusion and fear than by a desire to be arbitrarily disobedient. Left to evolve on its own, this child's natural motivation to protect himself may actually develop into intentionally defiant behaviors, for the child learns (ironically in a school setting) that he can feel more in control by being oppositional. ADHD schools, or professionals who understand this and many other dynamics associated with ADHD, are able to recognize the self-defeating behaviors of ADHD children, and are able to help them discover their own strengths and ability to learn.

for placement in a private ADHD School.

Parent and Teen Resources has long been recognized as a leader in the delivery of private school services to families in the United States. As you come to know our placement service you will see that our primary interest is in the long-term healing of your child. We specialize in knowing the best ADHD schools for troubled teens throughout the country. These schools focus primarily upon helping students with ADHD catch up with and/or become successful with their academics, engage in therapy to help with a variety of emotional issues sometimes associated with ADHD, vocational development, and prepare to return to the home environment.

Is an ADHD school's distance from your home an issue? It shouldn't be. ADHD schools are an investment in your child's future. Placement in an ADHD school is a difficult choice for many reasons. But don't short-change your child, nor this unique opportunity to bring solutions to his or her life.

We employ a thorough process of identifying, planning, and implementing effective and strategic healing for troubled teens and their families. ADHD schools, as residential placement, expect their students to successfully transition back to local therapy, and hopefully a healthy social and academic environment. Unlike other "industry leaders" in our field, we strongly suggest that you maintain whatever local therapeutic relationships you currently have throughout the placement process. This enables an expert on your child's issues to help with the transition process after placement in residential care.

Our mission is to gather as much relevant information as possible about your teen, then plan for academic, therapeutic, and placement options appropriate to your teen's and your family's needs.

We travel throughout the United States visiting and evaluating ADHD schools. Our consultants keep current with programs, changes, and philosophies at a wide variety of ADHD schools.

Parent and Teen Resources communicates with you, our families on a regular basis to provide a high level of service and feedback. Your teen's interests are considered foremost in making our recommendations to ADHD schools.
